Turns out that I will not be able to send the full speed of SACD's to the Parasound P5 that I ordered. I sort of rember seeing that there is a speed brake limitation put on the digital output of SACD players. Is this the case will all of the players?

Maybe I spoke too soon? It looks like you can send it via the analog outputs but that means it will be using the Oppo DAC correct?
-
If you are talking about sending the SACD code (i.e.transport) to the DAC, that's not possible with any player that I know of except the MCT450 SACD transport to the D150 DAC
So if you have an SACD player you will connect as a source input of the P5 via RCA's2-channel: Modwright KWI-200 Integrated, Dynaudio C1-II Signatures
Desktop rig: LSi7, Polk 110sub, Dayens Ampino amp, W4S DAC/pre, Sonos, JRiver
Gear on standby: Melody 101 tube pre, Unison Research Simply Italy Integrated
Gone to new homes: (Matt Polk's)Threshold Stasis SA12e monoblocks, Pass XA30.5 amp, Usher MD2 speakers, Dynaudio C4 platinum speakers, Modwright LS100 (voltz), Simaudio 780D DAC

Because of copy protection and all of that wonderfullness (*not to mention the inherent limitations of just how much data you can send over SPDIF interfaces*) the ONLY way to digitally transmit the signal from an SACD player to an external DAC,Pre/pro or receiver is via HDMI.

That is also correct i.e.

Wonder if the Oppo Cirrus Logic CS4382A (8-ch, 24-bit, 192khz) DAC will decode HDCD or for that matter will the P5 Burr-Brown PCM1798 DAC?
-
Yes the Oppo will decode HDCD

Sorry I am getting confused as usual. That was clarified in another thread. So the question is about the P5 DAC. I will try both and see when the P5 gets here but now I need another pair of IC's lol damnit! -
Nothing wrong with the Oppo DAC...just saying

The SPDIF input is unable to do sacd like all other SPDIF inputs on preamps, dacs ect. It's not the P5 that is unique in that respect. The dac in the P5 is ok but the Twisted Pair Audio II that is several generations old sounds better in my setup.Main system: Lyngdorf TDAI 2170 w/ Pioneer 42" plazma-> Polk LSiM 703 w/Tivo, Marantz tuner, BRPTT: Nothingham Spacedeck-> Pioneer PL L1000 linear arm-> Soundsmith DL 103R-> SUT->Bottlehead ErosDigital: I3 PC w/ Jriver playing flac -> Sonore Ultrarendu -> Twisted Pair Audio ESS 9028 w/ Mercury IVY Vinyl rips: ESI Juli@24/192-> i3 PC server

Bikerboy I am sure th limitation is on the. Digital outputs of the Oppo. If something could send the signal th P5 would process it.. At any rate this will be fun, I will have 3 DACs to compare.
