Tedeschi Trucks Band.

Tedeschi Trucks Band. On July 3rd I had no idea who this band was. On July 4th I was watching Palladia on and off. I think it was Eric Clapton's crossroads guitar festival playing all weekend. I remember seeing several performers I did not recognize. One in particular was a guy with a pony tail wearing a flannel shirt. A couple months later I'm flipping through the new arrivals bin at Goodies disk exchange and see this guy on a CD gatefold. I walk out the door with "Roadsongs" in my hand. I give it a listen and I'm very impressed. Thursday afternoon I'm checking out a local venue (Keswick Theater) and I see The Tedeschi Trucks Band is in for the weekend. I look to see if tickets are available and surprisingly there are some tickets for Thursday's show. Somehow I wound up 10th row dead center. Wow, what a band to see live in a small venue. There were 12 people on stage; bass, keyboards, a horn section, backup singers, a double drum kit, as well as Derek and Susan on guitar. This band has a jam band vibe that crosses several genres. Susan's singing could be compared to Janis Joplin or Bonnie Raitt, Derek is just incredible on guitar, the double drums give an Allman/Dead vehemence, and everyone else on stage brings it up several more notches. I highly recommend checking these guys out live if you get a chance,

One of my favorite live bands. Here's a crummy photo from last March, I see them every chance I can. Now that Derek's not playing with Allman Bros. and concentrating solely on TTB they're even better.
