Yes but since you already have the Teac you should just save and move up a "real" level instead of a little step up.

    That's my take, anyway.

Edit: That Marantz is actually a Clearaudio, in case you didn't know.

How about this : Pro-Ject Debut Carbon DC Esprit SB Turntable has speed control built in with a Acrylic platter and Ortofon Red Cartridge & new DC power supply takes AC from the wall, converts it to DC, then converts it back to AC for the motor.

if you don't mind 1 in Red then have it a demo of it a little cheaper.

I would agree...hold out, the biggest gain from the TEAC to Project would be a better phono pre at that price point

I have this table, I upgraded the cartridge and got an external phono pre and made a night and day difference. I listen to a lot of CDs and digital, my vinyl craze has calmed down. I would do as night fall suggests, save, and make a major upgrade. That's what I intend to do, save up a bit and buy something really nice, I was happy with the teac for a while, but with the upgrades I have done, the teac just isn't doing it for me anymore.

The p5 pre is fine until you hear other things... then you will get the itch and have to scratch it with hundred dollar bills (plural).

That is sexy. Tubes are a dangerous thing though. You can spend 100 bucks and not like them.

BTW Was talking to one of the vinyl people from Acoustic sounds, I told him I had a Debut Carbon with a Ortofon Red Cartridge and thouhg I might change out the cartirdge someday and what would he recommend?

He told me the RED was perfect for the Debut Carbon and if I wanted to upgrade something he recommend putting my $$ towards a better Phono amp and not on a new Cartridge...

but you can buy a Ortofon Blue Stlyus and you just unplug the RED and put on the Blue Stlyus for a easy upgrade, better stylus better sound.

  • You people say this all the time (maybe even me).
I don''t like this or that cartridge but they never say the
other half the equation which is with what phono amp.

This is a good thread cuz I'm resisting getting a better

LOL I actually like my Ortofon Red Cartridge with the 3 phono amps I had.

    1. Parasound Zphono (was to big for my setup)
    2. Graham Slee Gram amp 2 SE (was to light and my cables wanted to pull it off my rack...had to weighed it down)
    3. Vincent PHO8 ..was perfect fit in size and sound B)

I should say I now have a Pro-ject Xperience Classic in olivewood withe a Blue point #2 high MC Cartridge.
