small cap breakin time?

I took roughly 300 hours for the Clarita ESA caps to fully "settle in" in my RTA12C'S, will the 20 odd "nichicon" caps in my xover take more or less time to "break in"???? Just wondering! Anyone have some expierance with this.

They will take time to break in just like any other passive component. Perhaps not 300 hours, but expect them to improve over time.

Why would you think differently? I'm just curious.

This xover is active not passave, if that's makes any difference? And no I expect a break in period just not sure as to time? My experience has been with speaker xovers and big filter caps in amps this is an active xover with small value caps just didn't know if that changes expectations?

The components are passive components, but that's really here nor there. You should notice an improvement over time. May not be as dramatic as speaker crossovers, etc.

    Enjoy and keep us updated.

There is an imediatly noticeable difference in detail and clarity on the high end and the bass is just stupid (real good). I'm sure it will "evolve" with time. Can't really hear any "weak" areas. So if it get even better I guess I will just have to live with it , LOL. Right now I digging the crap out of it!

I have used several Nichicon, Muse and Panasonic caps in power supply recaps and the differences are very apparent and very positive :). It will probably get even better as they "break in"

I need to clarify my earlier statement.

When I said: You should notice an improvement over time. May not be as dramatic as speaker crossovers, etc.

I didn't mean there won't be a dramatic improvement, I just meant as they break in and time passes there might not be as dramatic improvement as speaker crossovers over the same time period.

You are hearing the dramatic improvement with the new caps in the power supply right away and they will get better over time.

See what I'm trying to say?

Ya I got it and agree. We did all the caps (20+) and this unit is wide open now and it is really pumping the music out to the amps nicely. It reminds me of the improvements in the DAC we did as far as the detail released. They got tighter and cleaner with breakin. The only issue is , due to multiple changes all at once its a little difficult to assign the changes to which mod! IE: external xover recap, rewire TT and biamp with the Adcom on bass. But in total all I can say is WOW! I know the TT is better as the wire was very bad (old and noisy ) dead quiet now. The audioquest cable seem to be real nice. Only thing left to do to the TT is another upgrade to the cartridge. Also want to upgrade the cables from the xover to the amps. It will never end!
