Just curious, over at the AVS forum, new users of the 3805 are stating that the display on the AVR-3805 shuts off after a couple of seconds. Has anyone experienced this issue with the 3803. Here is what they are reporting.
HSELARRY asks:
Is the receiver display supposed to disappear after a short period of time? I know you can dim it, or turn it off, however, regardless of those settings, it always disappears. Is this standard with Denon, or is it controlled by a setting. Thanks.
DLShres says:
Display on my 3805 also turns off after a minute or so. It stayed on while it was on tuner mode (as long as I remember but will check back again tonight).
I know you guys own the 3803 just wasn't sure if it did the same thing or not.

I've had the 3803 for almost a year now, and have never experienced my display shuting down. The only time I lose the display is when I go into "pure direct" mode (and it's supposed to shut down everything not directlly being used).Denon AVR-3803

It does sound like a Direct Mode function of some kind. I dunno.

Okay, I'm new to Denon products so you have to hang with me. When cutting up the volume on the receiver it is supposed to display your volume settings on the television. I'm running component cables to the tv along with s-video cables. When the tv is set to the s-video input, it displays the volume settings on the tv. But, when I switch to the component input on the television, NOTHING. Is there a setting I need to change to correct this. Any help will be greatly appreciated.Money Talks, Mine says Goodbye Rob!!!!

The same thing happens to me. I believe the on screen display will only show on what ever is hooked to "video monitor out". So if you are using multiple video outputs from the reciever, you will only see it on the one input mode on your TV that is hook to "video monitor out". (also check the manual for a decent explination. They also have them on-line at denon.com)Denon AVR-3803

Most(all?) receivers have problems doing on-screen display via component video. I just think it won't do the volume display that way.
I also saw a couple reports about the display dimming, and it seems to be a problem with the remote control sending out the command when it isn't supposed to. Might try swapping the remote out and see if that helps.
