There was a link on here somewhere, that was written by someone that did a lot of testing different cables and determined, in his and other people that was helping opinion, that monoprice 12ga speaker wire sounds as good as the most expensive wire that he tested.

I haven't seen it, but for every link you find to support that theory, you'll find others that say the exact opposite. Try some different cables for yourself and find out.

I have tested monoprice 12 guage speaker cables against bluejeans 12 guage speaker cable, on RTi8's. Bluejeans cable sound was much more detailed and relaxing than monoprice ones. Monoprice sounded harsh, tin-like. Bluejeans cables are not expensive and I'd recommend them over monoprice anyday.

Or better yet, borrow or purchase 4 or 5 cables, and have someone change them out, so you are not aware which are being utilized, that way you remove any expectations, or things you have heard about them online, and can listen with a free mindset.

Monoprice cables are junk, known to turn green and should be avoided at all cost.

Furthermore, any "test" that found them equal to known better sounding cables has zero merit. The same goes for blind tests, completely worthless for audio.

Dizzy, like Tony suggested buy used and if for some reason the Kimber8TC's don't sound better you can always sell them for no loss. Taming the highs on inherently bright speakers is a challenge and generally it's a combination of things that nets positive results. Everything in audio is cumulative. Anyone who says otherwise should be ignored.

    Bingo.....

I looked at the article you linked to KM. Seriously ? Look at what they were testing, Monoprice/Amazon basics/Radio shack/PYLE ?

Not exactly household names in the world of better cables. Wouldn't you agree ? Heck, they don't even fit in a higher category than all entry level low budget.

To add insult to injury, that site also works off commissions by readers buying what they review.

"The Wirecutter (and The Sweethome) is a list of the best gadgets and gear for people who quickly want to know what to get. When readers choose to buy our editorial picks, we earn affiliate commissions that support our work"

So unless they have a deal with other cable manufacturers, how likely do you think they'd even review them much less recommend them for their "Editorial picks" ?

Thanks for all the input everyone. I haven't been able to do anything with cabling or treatments. Haven't even had time to watch movies but I do love my PSA 1800. Wife hates it though. lol
