setting VTA w/ Shure "Audio Obstacle Course"

Have a Shure (vintage) vinyl "audio Obstacle Course" # TTR 110, for checking testing and setting up trackability. Anyone use or have an opinion on usefulness or accuracy in setting VTA and A/S on my denon DL110 using this as a template??????

    Although I don't have one of those, I have read in other forums about them or similar records. If you really want an opinion on this, you could post over at VinylEngine.

    Having said that, what I have read indicates that these types of records can be EXTREMELY finicky in that you may never get it to sound perfect no matter how good your alignment, VTF, or anti-skate is. It's almost an unwinnable game. Of course it's not a 'template' per se, but more of a tool for listening to see how close your settings are, or to try different settings and listen to the difference.

    I'm assuming you've already used a protractor of some type for alignment, and have a proper scale for setting VTF? That Denon should be a very nice-sounding cart.

    Yes the 110 is very nice. A protractor was used.just finished rebuilding the SL 1700 so what's next? LOL
