Martin Logan Montis Review

If anyone is into electrostats or thinking about it then I highly recommend you start out your journey here. These I find to be very smooth and refined and the best high end speaker out there for those looking into conservativly priced high end speakers.

I loved the Electromotiom, married the Vista and patted the summits on the head and blew kissed at the Spire. The Montis however is in a class of its own. I have owned several pairs of Ethos and Theos but they never made me feel the need to get rid of the Vista like the Montis.

The special thing is the DSP inside and the ability to near nulify the powered woofers and use your own amplification. They sound much better than the summit X as the have a seamless integration between the woofer and panel unlike anything else in the line. The large panel combined with dsp trickery just has tbis super smooth easy sound. These speakers really do Vanish into the room, many people use that term but its never applied as much before as music just flows. My next step in the line is to try a pair of CLX and I am very close, however I doubt that they could do many of the things as good as the Montis.37dnqt026ibr.jpg

I wish ML could have situated the ac connection to the left or right as its bang in the middle. This is no problem using nanners but when lugging larger cables with spades it gets in the way.

I visited the ML factory and they put the power cord in the middle to keep the integrity of the box.

But I agree Montis is a great speaker.

I keep my eyes peeled for a good deal and if it happens, it happens.

Owned the Summits before and the Vantage. Big ML fanboy.

I demoed the Montis a few years back. I came away impressed but they were and still are out of my price range. Good luck in your quest.

A place in town that I frequent just became a ML dealer and I've demoed several pair. If the funds and space were available I would love to own a pair. Nice stuff you got there.

I agree Tony it does look aesthetically pleasing pleasing and symetrical. The real reason however is to improve the sound of the speakers. When you have a rack sandwitched in between them they do sound good but great things start to happen when you remove it. The soundstage becomes super clear and you get really nice 3D effect.

I am a Martin Logan dealer as well and have been wanting to get a demo pair. The Electromotions and the Motion series bookshelf speakers were top on my list. I have to take the Parasound Integrated into my distributor's place and see what works best with it. Parasound, Wireworld, and Martin Logan (as companies) seem to work together often, so I think it should be a good match.

Thanks for the heads up on the Montis. They might be more than I want to indulge on at this time, but still a thought.

Wireworld works great with Martin Logan speakers, especially the Eclipse speaker cables. With eclipse 6 or 7 on a set of panels you really begin to notice/appreciate just how refined they are when it comes to the decay and clarity. Its the tonal accuracy that stood out the Eclipse the most to me.

I have never had a chance to have parasound come through my doors and its on my radar. PrimaLuna was always my favorite with Martin Logan and with the Vista they to my ears were more pleasing than the Mcintosh. I have always prefered the tubes but for the first time ever I now find my self enjoying a solid state rig more.
