I have the Polk audio RTi a7, CSi a6, FXi a6

What would be the best Reciever and Amp for these speakers
Movies/music is 60/40-ish
Room size 14w/11h/20L
No windows just 1 door at the rear of the room
Sitting around 10 to 15 feet away from screen

Also what sub setup would be better: 1 sub PB-13 ultra or 2 subs PB-12 Plus

Budget is around $7000-ish

Budget $7000 or did you add a zero?
  • I could spend up to $7000 if needed. For 2 subs a AVR and a AMP....I'm new to building a home theater. So maybe I over saved...lol

Parasound Halo A51 Five Channel Amplifier
    PB13-Ultra

There I spent all of that pesky money for you.

PS: Contact "Dskip" here for the amp

OK if you really need an AVR you can get an A31 and then you will have money for a Yamaha RX-A ****

I like the Pioneer Elite AVR's for a few reasons, one being I think their calibration program is the best.

As mentioned, one of the Parasound Halo amps would be a good choice.

  • With that budget, I would look into a standalone preamp/processor such as the Yamaha CX-A5100 then add a multi channel amp for the center and surrounds, and a stereo amp for the mains. Any of the amps listed above would do great.
Oh, Listen here mister. We got no way of understandin' this world. But we got as much sense of this bird flyin in the sky. Now there is a lot that bird don't know, but it don't change the fact that the world is happening to him all the same. What I am tryin to say is, is that the course of your life, well its changing, and you don't even see it- Forest Bondurant

    I'll second that.
  • Don't forget about heat, wiring, room treatments, clean power, interconnects...
if you go top shelf ... I haven't built a home theater room. Sounds like fun!
  • BTW, is that your boxer?

This should do the trick until you can get an amp to go with it. Looks like an open box deal on Amazon for $700. And it has the pre-outs you need for an amp,

  • I like 11.2 myself :)
Maybe someone who has dabble w/ Atmos can chime in.
I picked up a Denon AVR-4520ci for not much more bones
because I new Atmos would never be in the picture.

Two subs are better than one but if you haven't put nice power
to those fronts yet I'd just get one and see where you are at.
