Blowing Rock Ale House and Inn Blowing Rock, NC

So the GF and I are going to Blowing Rock for Valentines Day and our 2 year anniversary. We are staying at the Ale House and Inn. I've been there and had a beer or two and food but never actually stayed there. Really excited about it. What could be better then staying in an Inn that Brews there own beer!!?? http://www.blowingrockalehouseandinn.com/

It's gonna be about 2 deg. up there on Sunday, if you are lucky. Better stay inside and do whatever you can to keep warm.

Any time for trout in the trip?

Took Friday off and drove to Blowing Rock with Deanna for our 2 year anniversary. We stayed at Blowing Rock Ale House and Inn. http://www.blowingrockalehouseandinn.com/ Had an incredible Bison Burger and pimento cheese dip for diner. Had 2 flights of 10 different beers they had on tap. I think they brew 12 or 13 different beers right there in the 5 bbl brew system. Went and did some shopping and roaming around Blowing Rock before returning to the inn for more beer and to hang out. Saturday is was cold as hell. We did some more exploring. Went for a drive and ended up above the Appalachian Mountain Ski slops. Went to Bistro Roca for Lunch. http://www.bistroroca.com/ Afterwards we decided to brave the hick to view some waterfalls in the winter. Did I mention it was about 12 deg up there and cold as hell!!?? After the 1.5 mile hike to the bottom waterfall we then hiked back to the parking lot. We went back to the inn and proceeded to get cleaned up and go to dinner. We ended up not going to Appalachian Mountain Brewing's 3 year party and jsut hung out at the bar in the inn. Ended up meeting the lead brewer and at 10 at night he opened the brewery and gave us a personal tour. Was the most detailed tour and spill I'd ever had about brewing. Ended up he has a cj and is in the process of building it up. We talked about URE and NC4x4 and jeeps over a couple beers. Sunday we got up got packed and headed home. For lunch we stopped off in Charlotte at Midwood Smokehouse. http://midwoodsmokehouse.com/menus/menus.html Awesome food by the way. If you are in or around there you need to check them out. Here are a couple pictures I took:

I really need to throw them in an editor and burn in some of the hot spots. More here:

Glad the trip was enjoyable. I thought of you over the weekend every time I listened to the weather, since in our area, they always start with the Blowing Rock area.
