Beings I've been in the buying mode hear lately I have a question for you. Thinking of purchasing the Outlaw 7100 to go along with the new Denon 3805 and 2900 I recently purchased. Can you tell me what your impressions are of the Outlaw amp. I've checked other brands but really interested in just getting one multi-channel amp and the Outlaw 7100 just seems like the best bang for the buck. Any information you can give me will be greatly appreciated.

I've been extremely happy with the performance of my 7100 and recommend it to anyone that is looking to get into separates but doesn't want to pay premium dollars. I think you'd be hard pressed to find a similar product for the price. I tried the Anthem PVA7 before getting the Outlaw and was not too pleased with the performance or the cost. I couldn't put my finger on it at the time, but it just didn't sound right. Maybe it was just a bit muddy thru the mid ranges, I'm still not quite sure, but I didn't care for it.

The best way to describe the Outlaw is neutral. I know a lot of people may disagree, but I think an amp should not be heard. What I mean is that it should do nothing more than amplify the signal that it is given. To my ears the Outlaw does just that.

Would I buy it again, absolutely. There are times when I think I would have been better off with a 770 instead, but all I have to do is turn up the volume in the HT and I quickly realize that the 165w @ 4ohms is plenty.

Now I have a question for you. Why add a 100wpc amp to new receiver that's already rated at 120wpc with all channels driven? I'm not trying to talk you out of any upgrades, but it just seems to be a bit of a step backwards to add an amp with less power. I realize that the 3805 is new and a step up from your previous unit, but perhaps a better path would be to return the Demon and go with a complete separates package. Think of it this way, you paid full price for the receiver, but you would only be using 1/2 the capacity. Why pay for additional built in amps if you are not going to get any use from them? The 950 Preamp and 7100 amp would be a good choice.

Hope this helps, but more importantly I hope I didn't rain to heavily on your parade.

    I'll second that.
