I built an island...

...a, kitchen island that is...

Due to the limited counter space we have and add to that a very rainy day a few weeks ago, I got fired up to destroy and rebuild. Tore out the pony wall between the living room and kitchen, bought a few cabinets and began...

First the wall demo, then came a 1"x1" trench through the slab to run the electrical to the island (also had to bore a hole through the island leg). Next up I turned the fixed, fake top piece of the cabinet into a slide out drawer. After that was finishing up the flooring, put on the base for the top and tidy things up. This week.... we are going to paint it and I am going to build a distressed plank hardwood counter top.

All-n-al,l this has been a huge upgrade, final pics to come...

Oh, Listen here mister. We got no way of understandin' this world. But we got as much sense of this bird flyin in the sky. Now there is a lot that bird don't know, but it don't change the fact that the world is happening to him all the same. What I am tryin to say is, is that the course of your life, well its changing, and you don't even see it- Forest Bondurant

Ron doesn't mess a round, that's for sure. You should post another pic of your Tiki bar for these folks that weren't around when you did that.
