The part at the bottom was what made my jaw drop ('never found', man...):
"It is not the first time that a person with Alzheimer's has been lost by an airline. In 2001, Margie Dabney, 70, became separated from her husband during an American Airlines stopover at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.
Dabney was never found. Last year, her husband, Joe Dabney, agreed to an undisclosed settlement with American Airlines. He had sought $10 million." -
I blame the family more than the airline. I want airlines focusing on getting my plane to its destination safely in one piece. if someone has alzheimers, there is no reason on god's green earth he should be flying alone, with the family counting on the airline to be his caretaker. if this family let him fly alone, they should not get a dime. I know this happens with children, but usually special arrangements are made, (I.E. an adult picks them up at the gate. but an alzheimers patient, on a non direct flight? I get confused when i have to link up with another plane, much less this poor guy.

No flame here... Can you say direct flight.
May not be any to El Paso from NYC, but that means someone flies with him.
Sent my daughter flying alone when she was 8 or so. Direct flight from Texas to Ohio with Grandparents waiting. Think she flew alone most every year from then until she was 13-ish.
And as for AA* being liable for a husband not keeping track of his wife, ridiculous...
*Edit: Wanted to be clear that the AA above means American Airlines and not that stuff you may or may not wish to spray on many things including, but not limited to, speakers, wood surfaces, dashboards old LP's and yo' mammies flapjacks...
Just wanted to be clear on that...
More later,
Tour...
