PS Audio Powerport vs HD Hospital Grade Outlets

Today is the day I hope to hook 3 dedicated 20 amp lines to the aux. circuit breaker box I had installed awhile back....I am wondering what difference I would get between the 2 outlet options in the title above, as I would like to just run to the local HD and buy 3 orange hospital grade outlets....any thoughts or experience to share?

I'm thinking the PS Audio should be better but how much.... Not sure. Your going to notice differences with the new lines so you prob won't be able to hear difference with the outlets for a bit so if just go with hospital for now and upgrade as you find them at good prices.

I've got 3 PS Audio outlets I need to install in my NON dedicated lines today. I can tell the grip on them v regular is MUCH different with the PS Audio having a tighter grip for sure.

  • I bought the PS Audio 15 amp'ers cuz if you buy two from music direct it is about the same price as HG. My SWAG is they are of equal quality. MD ships fast BTW.

The PS Audio receptacles are a better quality and have a tighter grip. If you want to get real audiophile, check out the ones from Furutech.

Hooking up the breaker box end of things today....ordered a Ortofon Red cartridge, Geodisc and manual alignment tool yesterday.....so getting there. Didn't want to go too crazy spending and I learned the Ortofon stylus can be upgraded at a later date.

So I just did my contractor grade outlet to PS Audio Classic swap. Havent done any listening but I can tell you this. I suffered from "Saggy Cord Syndrome" with the standard but the PSA outlet has a solid grip on my PS Audio AC3 PC. If I could have found my fishing scale, I would have done a pull strength on the two just for Scat's and Giggles...

Total Time Invested = 10 minutes (Gather tools, throw breaker, swap outlet, put tools away, throw breaker)

We'll see if there are any sonic differences with the latter.

Have you noticed anything with the hospital grade outlets?
