Need a little help........

I bought a small smart tv for a bedroom and I plan on mounting it to the wall (close to the bed) with an articulating and swiveling wall mount. When not in use I want it as flush to wall as possible. All the connections are on the rear of the TV. The only cable plugged in will be the power cable as the TV will be used for wireless streaming only.

The problem is they use a polarized C7 cord (the type that looks like a figure 8 only the polarized one has a flat bottom on the lower part of the figure 8). I have been hunting on-line for a power cord that has a 90 degree (right angle) C7 plug so it will fit snug against the wall.

I found this, but as you can see it's non-polarized. I have not been able to find a polarized version. Any help pointing me in the right direction would be appreciated.

FOR REFERENCE the standard polarized C7 looks like this below .

Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. Brock - Ya stumped us! I searched everywhere, and can only find the non-polarized versions. Seems others on other forums have been looking as well, but no one could turn one up, only suggestions to have a custom cable made.

Silly question, but could you use the non-polarized adapter like this one:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Figure-8-IEC-320-C7-to-C8-90-Degree-Up-Down-Angled-Right-Angle-AC-Power-Adapter-/131563830055?hash=item1ea1d0bb27:g:v24AAOSw9N1Vswy~

File down the squared off side of the C7 polarized side of your stock cable, and just make sure it is connected through the adapter and to the TV in the correct polarity?

Other than that... I got nothing!

You need a lot of help B-rock!
Al's suggestion would work, just make sure you check the polarization of the new cord. The side of the cable with the ridges on it is your neutral side.

See, I'm not crazy!! I looked and looked too! If it comes down to that I think I could. The TV actually comes today so once I mock up where I need to mount it I'll decide if the extra expense of a custom cable is worth it.

They also make this that could work, again not polarized.

Thanks for the advice.........and no I don't need a lot of help. Unless by help you mean a good, ice cold beer............ok then yes!

I'm guessing you could bend the original at the fitting enough that it won't matter. The articulating mounts usually have a bit of clearance when pushed all the way closed anyway, that is, unless you use one of those in-wall zero clearance types. Maybe you could tell us the model # of the TV and the mount you plan to use?
For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore...
  • Will the first one you pictured fit into the TV connector (despite having two rounded moldings)? If so, could you replace the other end with a male plug that will insure polarization (one prong wider or three-prong with ground not used)?

I've done some of my best and worst work with the help of beer...

I was also going to suggest what Bill suggested - just bending the original if it's flexible enough. Could even work some wonders with duct tape to hold a bend... You might get enough clearance just by doing that. When you look at how far even a 90 degree bend still sticks out, you might only be another 1/4 or 1/2 inch with just gently bending the existing cord. But one has to wonder why they make 90 degree bends or low profile plugs for just about every other configuration...

That's probably the case. I was trying to be proactive and getting a cord that might fit better. But your right, it might be a non-issue as there might be enough give to bend the cord 90* or close to it.

This is the articulating mount and it's for a 24" Vizio E24-C1 smart TV.

The pictures show that when it's compressed fully, there is about 4" of space from the back of the TV to the wall.

I don't think you're going to have an issue with the stock cord.

Edit: but if you really want a new power cord, I would shoot Frank @ signal cable an email. They can usually figure something out for you. to top it off, their "video" power cables are pretty darn reasonable.

Good suggestion ^^^^. I'd call Frank and see what he can come up with. Be careful with the wall mounts on Vizio's, some say the mounts cover the jacks in the back but since your streaming it should be a non-issue.

It shouldn't cover the jacks in the back. It's Vesa 100 and the mount I am using is a compact X shape about the size of the mounting area on the back of the TV.

Gotcha, different mount. If you look though what a standard mount is and how those holes align, the bracket would cover those jacks on the left side.

You would think in todays world, many newer TV's would have side jacks for ease of access. A lot do, but many still don't.

I was a bit irritated they weren't on the side. But I need a smaller, compact TV for what it's used for and the only other TV this size which is a Smart TV was a Samsung for a bit more $$$. Just don't need the Samsung for this install.

    It should all work out.
