Atmos

My receiver does not have atmos but has the surrounding back channels. I am not using them since my room cannot accommodate 7.1. Is it possible to use those channels for atmos speakers? The speakers more than likely will be placed on top of my fronts. I can't do ceiling speakers. Also, my ceiling slants to the left. I don't now if it would be worth it since the ceiling is slanted. I don't want all the sound reflecting in one direction. Away from the listening area.

only if your receiver can decode the ATMOS sound track. My love Sony 5700ES is setup 7.1 and cannot decode it.
When I was a kid my parents told me to turn it down. Now I'm an adult and my kids tell me to turn it down.

I wouldn't. When stuff pans across the rear channels it will sound like it's coming from rear left, front left with reflections, front right with reflections, rear right... It wouldn't sound right.

I figured it wouldn't work but thought I would ask. Thanks for the confirmation.
