Subwoofer match for SDA Speakers

I currently have a pair of SDA2Bs and recently blew out one woofer with my new DVD player which had a movie with a very loud segment (rocket lift off). Would it be beneficial to add a subwoofer to ease the load on the woofers? If beneficial, which model would be best? Currently looking at either the PSW350 or the PSW450. (Other suggestions?) Generally listen to music and movies at low to moderate levels and system is in a mid-size room.
Thanks

If you check out the other threads on subs you will see Polk subs are not to popular. Plus your SDAs will most likly go lower then any of Polk's subs with the exception of the 1200 which is not sold anymone. There are other subs out there for the same or less $ that blow the Polks away. Like Juice21 said check out the others, it will be time well spent.

What are you using to power your SDA's?

I have a Yamaha RX-V793. 80 watts for each of the 5 channels. Still not sure if I need a subwoofer or if the SDA's woofer just failed. They have never been short on bass. Have not gotten any opinions if I need one. Polk tech support suggested that the DVD movies contain a lot of base information and recommended a subwoofer. Do you agree? Looking at Velodynes. Thanks for the help.

Ask any SDA user and they'll tell you that even the strongest receiver is far too wimpy for a pair of SDA's. You likely blew the woofer because your receiver clipped. Invest in a nice 200W+ stereo amp for those speakers. You'll be pleasantly surprised. You can pick up a used Carver for under $300.

I agree with Aaron. You need at least 200 watts per channel for SDAs for best performance. High current amps work best. Take it from a fellow who has five pairs of SDA's.

I totally agree. The smallest amp I suggest is around 300 watts rms. I've tried everything from 275 to 1200 per channel and the 275 per channel seemed a little too small (but would do). I am referencing my opinion to the 1C's because I do not have a pair of the 2B's. I did notice that the smaller SDA's (like the CRS+) tend to like a little more power than the larger ones (like the 1.2's or 2.3's). Huh? I don't know why. I guess because you tend to drive the smaller ones harder to get the same amount of sound as the larger ones.
