Soundcraftsmen Score!

Looking through CL yesterday, Soundcraftsmen Amp for sale, $75.00. Thing is, he had the Preamp and EQ in the picture also. I look them over, they are in great shape!
Pro-Power Four Amp
Pro-Control Four Preamp
DC 2215 Equalizer

I hand him the $75.00, and he says let me help you load all this stuff. I feel guilty, It all works! A little touch up on some scratches, and all looks new. All the LED's work, and amp is clean inside. SCORE!

Yep, from what I have read the PP Four is the same internally as the PCR-800. Diff case design, same specs. What I am really impressed with, is the Preamp. It smokes the NAD 1155, I'll have to do a shootout w/the Denon PRA 1000. That, w/the POA 1500 is a nice match.

The Power-Control 4 doesn't have MC phono, but I'm thinking I can use the NAD as a phono Preamp only. Anyone know how to hook that up, or have a copy of owners manual? The PC-4 has a lot of RCA jacks on back, and they are named a lil' diff than most Pre's. Owners manual anyone?

    Thanx, Ron

Nice score. Super price.... Ive got the pra-1000 & love it. It took over the pra-1200's spot. Seems to do better on the poa2200. Dont hear much talk on here about under-the-radar Denons. Enjoy that nice find ya got there.

Shop near my house when I was growing up carried Soundcraftsmen. I remember going in there as a teenager & drooling. I wanted an A5002 so bad, but no way could I afford one. Wish I could find one these days for a decent price.

Yep, they are nice. The only thing I have to do right now, is clean all sliders/switches on the EQ.

Checked DC offset on amp, R- 7.3mv L- 39.5mv. Not too far outa whack for an amp this old. Is there a tutorial on how to post pics here?

Well, how about that. After I posted above, I checked eBay, & found an A5002 in what looks to be pretty nice shape. Seller had the ad spelled Soundcraftman & got no bids other than mine at a nice price. Wooo!

Piece o cake. Just click on the little back paper icon above with the folded corner. Then click on "Choose Files" and attach. Easy peasy...
