Just what are the differences in the Monitor 5 series crossovers ?
The only physical thing different between the 5's & 7's is cabinet volume and passive radiator size.
I was just looking at an older set of 5Jr crossovers at FleaBay and they didn't have the phenolic board on top, just the electronics hot glued inside.
I notice less capacitors in there, so I'm guessing he's running the woofer flat out ?
Some of my favorite sounding speakers
(Optimus T-100's for example) have been designed that way.
I like the idea of tailoring the tweeters to come in just as the woofer's natural slope.

I can only guess it is a difference in the years produced, and probably due to a difference in the tweeter and maybe even midrange/bass driver used.

I recently got a set of ported 5jr's. My crossovers do not have a board either. Everything is bundled together in electrical tape and then hot glued to the main inductor. The drivers are stamped 1986.

I can confirm that the Early Square-face 5Jr with port DOES NOT have a wafer board. It's tweeter resistor value is 1.3 ohm.
