Need a large button/illumintaed universal remote for my parents

So we got them a new TV for Xmas but my mom's poor eyesight makes it tough to use the supplied remote. I've seen a few on the internet but looking for 1st hand experiences. The illumination would be great but a good working big button remote is what she really needs.

Anybody have any you can recommend based on actual experience?

dang, that thing is HUGE! Looks like they are glow in the dark, I think she would do better with backlit buttons though.

I don't have a specific recommendation for a model, but I would recommend getting a remote that is shaped so it is easy to tell which end points towards the TV by feel. Rounded at the top end of the remote seems to work best for older users from what I have seen. I think simple, fewer buttons, and ergonomic is best.

I got my Dad something very similar to this. He likes it.
I don't remember where I actually got it, but in our case we didn't want him to get confused on a different remote.

He just sits it on top of his remote and off he goes changing channels and what not.

I can see where that would work except adding another "device" in the chain will probably make matters worse for her.

Yea Tony, a few years ago and it would have been the same reaction, she has come to terms with the situation. To quote Clint, a man's gotta know his limitations...except this time it's a woman.
