New Yamaha AVR

Hello Everyone,
I'm hoping that after I share my issue, some of you folks could chime in and offer your opinions / suggestions. I currently have RTi A7's for fronts, CSi A4 center and RTi A1's for rears. These are powered by a Sony STR dn1050.
For Tv, movies and gaming I have no issues with this, it does the job. The problem is when I want to listen to music. It might just be my hearing but I can't get enough highs out of it. Even with the treble set to max, it is still lacking for me. I will add that I use a stand alone cd player albeit an old one but even if I put the disc in the bluray player I get the same poor result. If it matters I like my music in a 2.0 stereo format.
My thought is that the problem is with the Sony and I am considering replacing it. There is a wealth of information out there but at the same time that information can be confusing at times. So many different people and forums and so many different opinions. So with that said I am looking at a Yamaha RXv 1079 as a replacement for the Sony hoping that it will give me that better sound I'm looking for.
Please chime in and offer your thoughts / opinions. Am I headed down the correct path?
Thanks in advance.

How much is that one?

Prrtty close to the RX A1050, but more expensive.
Have you tried adjusting the positioning of your speakers? Get a laser pointer and direct the tweeters toward where you sit. Also may try raising/lowering the front of your speaker.
Not trying to talk you out of a new AVR, but a lot of issues arise with bad speaker positioning. Sometimes as little as 2 degrees of tow changes the whole sound stage.
Just an idea. -
I've run my A7's through 3 different AVR's and never had a problem with highs when running them in 2 channel. The A7's by nature are on the bright side. Reading about your Sony they say the only bad thing is it has a touch of brightness at high volumes. So I would look into your AVR settings before replacing it.
