PSW10 fuse

My PSW10 subwoofer stopped working after few hours use, upon opening the amp board on the back, I came to know the fuse has blown, rest of the board shows no damage on visual inspection, what the spec for for the replacement. Anything else I have to investigate before replacing the fuse?

  • Hello,
Assuming you have the 110V version of the sub you would use a 2.0A/250V time delay fuse (if you are in a country that operates at 230V, then the fuse is 1.0A/250V). If the blown fuse has a simple break in the fuse wire then trying a replacement is a good idea. If, however, the fuse looks heavily blackened on the inside of the glass then there is, probably, a problem with the amplifier and a new fuse will simply blow again. In that case it would be best to contact Polk's CS department at 1-800-377-7655 or via email to polkcs@polkaudio.com. Have the unit's serial number and place and date of purchase handy when you contact them.
They will get things working for you.
    Regards, Ken

Where do you get this kind of fuse? I picked up a 2.OAmp/250V fuse from an audio store (nothing said to them about a time delay fuse as I didn't know about that - just assumed that the 2Amp/250V fuse would do the trick) , made sure the power switch was set to off, put it in and it immediately blew when I plugged it in, after a brief hum. Or am I looking at a problem with the amplifier? The date of manufacture on this sub is August, 2017. I bought it new perhaps 3-4 years ago, can't remember, and no longer have a receipt anywhere that I can find. Thoughts, suggestions?

Usually the problem is with the amplifier. Try and find out when you bought it since it comes with a three year warranty.
