Anyone using their tablet for music?

Girlfriend got me a Samsung tablet for Christmas. Been thinking of getting a mini USB- USB adapter, 128gig sd card and downloading music onto it. Right now I am using her MacBook Pro. The tablet seems to be more flexible and music friendly. Wondering if anyone is doing this with good sound quality? I will be running this through my benchmark dac2.

I use mine in conjunction with my iFi Stereo 50, connected via Bluetooth, and love it. It sounds much better than you would expect bt to sound.

Perfect. Looks like I need an adapter that is OTG capable. And I have to download an app to installed a driver that allows USB to be used as an audio out. Which also supports multi channel and 32bit!

Thank you. I'm an apple guy so this is a learning curve. Seems there are a ton more options for the android platform and music.

I use a tablet, sometimes....with my Sonos system. Mainly for the bigger display for us visually impaired older folks. Don't load music directly on it though. That stays on the 'puter, Sonos grabs it, Sonos app on the tablet sends it all over.

I have two of the Polk Woodbourne's (1 in my Dining Room and 1 in my Master Bedroom) and stream via Airplay over Wi-Fi from my iPad. Easy to setup and works seamless. Sounds better than playing over Bluetooth.

    The Woodbourne's ROCK!

Alright, my plans have changed. I'm now interested in a music streaming device. That way i can stream music from my tablet to my system. Looks as though my USB cable will be too short, once I re-arrange everything. Makes more sense to get a streamer instead of a long USB cable. Any ideas? I will do some googling, for ideas. I would hook said streamer directly to my benchmark dac2L

Looks to be about the same as the Sonos. Limited to cd quality, which isn't a bad thing if that's all ,your interested in. The Bluesound will do higher rez formats and a couple dedicated music servers will do DSD also. Depends on what you want to spend,

It is, but you can actually find the Denon ones at a good price. Sonos has very strict pricing and does not allow discounting.

True....but I see used ones all the time for around 2 bones. Either way, if he wants higher rez, both of those are out. I think PFB and Mantis have had or still do the Sony Hap. Maybe check with them and see if they like it still.

Dsd and flac would be nice to future proof. I get at the very least cd quality through my DAC with the files off my computer. I do have flac files, but I'm not paying for hi Rez music as of yet, I love having physical copies. My plan is to install 128gig sd card into my tablet, down Load all the music onto the tablet, then stream to my 2 channel system. Budget around 500$. Maybe use google play, or other streaming services. I have a lot of friends over, and streaming services are great because we introduce each other to new music on the fly.

    The denon looks interesting.

Honestly I use my Amazon FireTV for all my streaming in the bedroom, I really like it. But I use the squeezebox app on the FireTV, and have the squeezebox server on my computer. it is limited to cd quality, but for 100 bucks its hard to beat. Don't have to turn the tv on, control it from the squeezebox app on my phone or ipad, and u can stream spotify, pandora, TIDAL, etc. on it. It also has an airplay app that works pretty good.

but admittedly this is probably an option for the cheapskate like me...

Thanks man. I keep changing my
Mind on this one. Going to wait till my shanling CD player shows up and I get everything re-arranged in my rack, And go from there. Thinking of picking up a mac with an ssd drive for the quiet aspect of things. In the end it looks like my fancy audioquest Carbon cable will be too short...
