Legacy Deep Impact Subwoofer

Hey Fellow Polkies,
I just found a Legacy Deep Impact Sub, and talked the seller down to $150. How good a sub is this? I can only find the manual, but can't find ANYTHING on it really. I know Legacy has a pretty grand reputation, any experiences with it? Was $150 a good price (seems like it lol). Let me know if any of you have any experience of have any knowledge of it. Any info is greatly appreciate all, thanks!

if it works and has no problems "STEAL IT" it was a very nice sub IMHO. The only problem I see is if it needs a surround or has amp issues.

Sweet, thanks pitdogg2. I checked, no amp hum, and surrounds look good. How would it compare to say a pb12-nsd, plus, plus/2? Or maybe pb2000. Just curious.

I have no idea how it would compare, All I know is I have yet to hear anything I disliked from Legacy. I have been down to see Bill twice over the years I have yet to see anything they cut corners on. 150.00 wouldn't take much to convince me and I don't need it. Would the seller be up to audition?

I actually just went and bought it... I had to liquidate my last system do to unexpected expenses I did hear it at their place, I'd have paid a good bit more than $150 for it bahahaha... I'm excited to get it into a functioning system at home, I'll keep posted, as I have to get a receiver. I'm going, hopefully tomorrow, to pick up a pair of ONIX Strata Mini's. I'm excited about that as well, as every single review I've read excessively loves them. Nabbing those for $500. I'll probaby have to run out of my sound card analog until I can find a cheap HDMI receiver. I miss my separates

What do you guys think of the AV123 Onix Rocket Strata Minis? Hoping to go and pick some up tonight or tomorrow. Everything I've read has said good things about them.

Noticed one of the Strata Mini's subs hums, very little, but it does. Pretty sure I have it hooked up correctly (very confusing back panel). Any ideas? I can unplug my amp, and the back panel, there are jumper cables going from the speaker terminals to the Right Output at the top... just with the jumpers, there's a hum in the sub. I tried running an additional jumper from the Left Output negative to the Left Input negative as the manual suggest; though, no luck. Still, the sub as a low hum. Speakers are absolutely gorgeous and sound amazing, just noticed the sub hum. I've had some experience with amp hums on plate amps, but this one the sub is humming lightly. Any ideas?? :-/

Not sure, disconnected external amp, just had the plate amp wired the way it's supposed to and the extra jumper it mentioned... noticed when I turned the gain knob down (from 2/3 to 1/2) the hum stopped entirely. I reconnected the external amp (hadn't powered it on), and when I turned up the knob back to 2/3 for kicks, no hum -_- Confusing. I will say though, I love the Strata Mini's, great speakers Thanks for the quick response tonyb! Also, I don't believe they made a center for these :-/ Not sure they made any other speakers using the planar-magnetic tweets, as I'm trying to find a center accurately timbre matched. I read some people use the REF100, but it's a ring radiated tweeter... read a person who modifies these attempted a custom center, but never heard much more. Any thoughts? Eventually I may just move them to the bedroom for a 2ch, but am interested in a 5ch system.
