It's been easy finding vintage Polks around here lately is it safe to assume these are monitor 10s? Apparently the seller hasn't a clue if these are 10s how do they rate in the vintage monitor series? The price seems right and they appear to be in good shape.

a pair of 7s and 10s (very early versions) for comparison. The 5 is smaller than either (and came along a few years after the 7 and 10).

EDIT: oh, here's a later 5 -- this is one of a pair I have, thanks to a kind soul at AK. Earlier 5s had the Peerless silk dome tweeter like the 7 and 10 above.

Decided not to pursue these to many speakers already, if someone close by is looking for some monitor 5s these look like they are in great shape.

yeah, those look like M5's, as noted above.
I think those would be nice in a smaller space.

I picked up a set of Monitor 5 JR+ last summer. I think they're supposed to be a bit better with a crossover upgrade, but as they sit, I find them almost uselessly thin sounding. I don't regret buying them, as it was a good experience, but I can't see using them without a sub, or without upgrading, or using in a really small space where I could optimize their position. I wonder how much fatter the regular Monitor 5 sounds by comparison.

regarding how Monitor 10's rate, as I understand it, the side-by-side driver messes up imaging, and some say that the Monitor 7 is the sweet spot with these speakers. I've never really had a profound imaging experience aside from the phantom center, so I can't comment. I like the Monitor 10 though, and I would recommend them if you've never tried them and can get them for a good price. I enjoy mine, and they're all stock except for 194 tweeters.

I like the 7 best of the lot, but I am profoundly biased because I couldn't afford the 10 way back when, so I bought a pair of 7As in 1978... and I've stuck with 'em.
