Hi sorry if this isn't the proper category to asks this,But after looking for a silver dome SL2000 tweeter replacement for the dead one on my SDA1's I found the option of purchasing a $20 one to fix the issue on the cheap Problem is that it has a sharp although not excessively deep crease in the middle of the silver dome,My question is would this adversely effect its performance?

The dome is much more than a dust cover, so yes any damage will affect the sound.

Why not buy one of these, http://forum.polkaudio.com/discussion/168580/polk-sl2000-tweeters-25-00-each-free-shipping#latest
Also I assumed since there is a difference in snd quality between the sl2000 and the rdo-194-1 it would be recommenced to replace all 4 at the same time to establish sonic unity

    That would be best.

    Pass.

You'd be better served by replacing the SL2000's with the RD0194 from Polk.

Ya so I've heard, but being a low budget Canadian it would mean leaving me rather financially drained at this time! But thanks for the advise! Any thoughts on the crease question? As I'm not sure if it provides any interracial purpose besides being a dust cover?

As I previously stated, pass on that tweeter.

thanks for that quick response. Will it really alter the snd that much as Ive read in a couple of posts in this forum that said they had crushed domes and it didn't audibly effect its performance from their standpoint,I was hoping to garner other members opinions before i buy it,Unfortunately the cheapest route is my only option at this time, and Id really like to get them fully functional ASAP

You will be very happy with these. Not only do they work, they (the rdo-194-1), are an upgrade to the sl2000 as well. Four screws and 2 wires each. Done!

When you are ready let me know and I can supply the phone number as well.

    Done.

For the Canadians in here wondering about pricing, the rdo-194-1 tweeters, as said above, were $50.

Wanted to add that the mw 6503 mids in my 2b's were $60 each. I would ASSume that the other models of mids to be similar in price.

The shipping cost was $8.95 for the 2 mids and the 2 tweets (all in one box) and took less than 2 days to arrive.

    Enjoy,

As a fellow Canuck I've come to respect and admire Polk Audio for their continued commitment to affordable pricing.R and D and from what I hear, exemplary quality customer service.I think Polk fans on both sides of the fence should consider themselves fortunate that M.P left his namesake business in the hands of such conscientious considerate individuals!
