In-ceiling speakers comparison - RC80i vs RC60i vs TC80i

Hi all, long time no see...

I am looking to install two in-ceiling speakers for Atmos in my theater.

I check out Crutchfield comparison, and there doesn't seem much of a difference between RC80i, TC80i, and even RC60i (being 6.5" vs 8").

Does anybody have personal experience with these and prefers one model over another?

These obviously won't match my B&Ws, but I don't think it really matters for Atmos height speakers.

Thank you.

    Hello,

For you in-ceiling I would go with the RC60i out of the 3. I have TC80i in my front and my rear surrounds are RC80i. not much difference in movies. When I have the money I am going to replace all 4 with SC/MC80 to even them all out . After today that is on hold for me till I get Signature S60 first.

Reason I said get the 6.5" is once you cut the hole you can't go back that easy. 6.5" is a good size for effects speakers.

Thank you for your comment. I was just reading about MC80 yesterday night, and definitely thinking that those would be an overkill just for Atmos effects. RC60i is on sale right now locally, so I'll see if I can grab a pair.

the TC80i is overkill https://www.amazon.com/Polk-Audio-8-Inch-Ceiling-Loudspeaker/dp/B00030CHQW I got these when the wife wanted me to get rid of floor standing speakers, decent in music but nothing like a good floor standing speaker.

the RC/SC/MC series will do you fine for Atmos speakers.
