Powering A7
Hi guys, would the Marantz SR6008 be able to drive the A7's and do them justice or am I shooting for the stars with a pellet gun?

A lot of factors here.
How big is your room?
Listening habit? Home theater/Music?
How loud do you normally listen?
Do you have a subwoofer? If so, how big?2 ChannelTurntable - VPI Classic 2/Ortofon 2M BlueAmplification - Rogue Audio Cronus Magnum II, Parks Audio Budgie PhonoSpeakers - GoldenEar Triton 17.2 Home TheaterDenon AVR-X3300W; Rotel RMB-1066; Klipsch RP-280F's, Klipsch RP-450C, Polk FXi3's, Polk RC60i; Dual SVS PB 2000's; BenQ HT2050; Elite Screens 120"Man CaveTurntable - Pro-Ject 2.9 Wood/Grado GoldAmplification - Dared SL2000a, McCormack DNA 0.5 DeluxeCD: Cambridge AudioSpeakers - Wharfedale Linton 85th Anniversary; LSiM 703; SDA 2A -

Room is approx 15*25
I'd say 70 music 30 home theater
Never listening more then 70% of max power
Want to get PSW125 12" sub
I want to buy the speakers but I already own the amp. -

The PSW505 would be a better choice for a sub for a similar price.
The DSW PRO 660 would be even better.
Where are you located?
No offense to Polk but for $650 there are better sub options... -
The Polk Audio DSW PRO 660 is currently available from Polk Audio for approx. $450 with free delivery.

That's a good sized room, you'll need a big sub for HT use.
An AVR is never going to perform as well as dedicated stereo gear for music even with an external amp as then the pre amp section of the AVR becomes the limiting factor.
You've never had it at 70%...would have been clipping like a m0f0.
If you want a Polk sub, get the DSW Pro 660wi. Otherwise, there are many other good choices.Political Correctness'.........defined

I live in Toronto Canada. I checked out the PSW505 and it's about the same price so I'm leaning towards that.
Here's a real dumb newbie question, please don't laugh....What are the terminals on the back of the sub for? Would I wire the A7's into my SR6008 or the sub woofer?
Thx for all your help guys! -
There are probably some good Boxing week sales going on.
The terminals at the back of the subwoofer are used to allow speaker level inputs from the receiver or amp to the subwoofer, then back out to the speaker. They are there because many two channel receivers do not have a low level RCA subwoofer output for the subwoofer, so the right-left speaker level outputs are used instead. You don't ned to do this with your receiver.
You would wire your RTiA7 speakers to the respective left and right front channel speaker outputs on your receiver.
Thanks a lot for explaining that. So with my Marantz SR6008 I would just wire the A7's directly into my receiver and use RCA from sub to receiver.
