I bought the Mitsubishi seven years ago new. Use it mainly about six to ten hours a week . Still on original lamp. Older tech I know ,but awesome ,true to life picture quality . A month ago I noticed a small white spot on center bottom . No big deal since bottom of screen. Now there is a new one in center of screen that really bothers me. I know there are others on this forum that love these sets that might have an answer for me. Thanks. D. Merry Christmas

Your DLP chip is going bad.

I had a set for some years that had none of the major problems. I enjoyed it very much but got rid of it because I knew at some point the color wheel, DLP chip, fans, etc would need to be replaced.2.2 Office Setup | LG 29UB55 21:9 UltraWide | HP Probook 630 G8 | Dell Latitude | Cabasse Stream Amp 100 | Boston Acoustics VS 240 | AUDIORAX Desk Stands | Mirage Omni S8 sub1 | Mirage Omni S8 Sub2 -
I have seen the same thing on LED TV's where some of the LEDs only show white. To be fair it was on a TV in a bar and when it went to a blank screen you could tell it had many this way. Funny thing is once you notice it like that is all you see lol

I have one on my 65" and have had the replacement part in Amazon wish list for months waiting for it to get worse. I'll probably end up replacing it if it gets any worse now, since the 4k tech is getting more mature.

Ive heard it referred to as dead pixels.

Contacted Mitsubishi. I requested they ship me the chip for free? See what happens. $179.99 on Amazon. Now I have three white dots. Thanks for the help. Actually, I like the way they do planned obsolescence in TVs nowadays. They build 'em to last 2 years, of course (or maybe only 18 months), but, every 16 months, they come out with some "new and improved" technology that pretty much makes the hardware obsolete any way.
Oddly enough, when we do watch something on TV or video, we have a 1983 Toshiba 27" CRT which we use so to do. It is adequate for the task. -
My Phillips LED has been going strong for a few years now. I still won't buy another Phillips though, I'll go back to Vizio.afterburnt wrote: »They didn't speak a word of English, they were from South Carolina.

My father inlaw had the same issue on the same TV. WLDock is correct. It was like 150 bucks to replace.B&W CM9Classé Sigma

Sounds vaguely similar to a problem Samsung had on some of their DLP sets. They had a beautiful picture til one by one this white dots started multiplying and users tried to get Samsung to cover it under warranty. Samsung denied it was a warranty issue and lost a number of customers over it. I hope Mitsubishi takes care of you Dabutcher!

I've been called a lot of things, Mr. H has got to do better than that to turn my head. lol
Planned obsolesce Mr. H ? Pretty hard to get around that little fact these days. I tried fighting it too, but getting everything to work with one another in the marriage of vintage and modern became a big pain in the keyster. You must have the patience of a saint.HT SYSTEM-

Been trying to get Mitsubishi to send me a new DLP chip to fix twenty white spots on screen. They are going to pay for the chip. The kicker is that they will only send it to their authorized repairman. And I have to pay him to install chip and pay him $200.00 plus tax and gas for travel. I really like the picture on this tv. Especially football . Don't know if I want to stick $220 into a seven year old tv or cut my loses and sell it for $200 and buy a new one? Peace. Yep! I hear you. That's one of the reasons I sold my working WD-73734 for $300. The thought that the DLP chip, color wheel, three fans, and continued bulb replacement cost would start to add up at some point....and I'm a tech myself. I would have kept it and put it in my basement but it would not fit.
I've moved on to an LED. A broken Sharp that had a bad LED strip that I fixed. What a pain in the **** to fix but I made off cheap. I'll tell you what though. ....I had both sets side by side and the Mitsu had deeper and richer colors than the Sharp. In their day they were the were the best of all world's value. ..large size and great film like picture.2.2 Office Setup | LG 29UB55 21:9 UltraWide | HP Probook 630 G8 | Dell Latitude | Cabasse Stream Amp 100 | Boston Acoustics VS 240 | AUDIORAX Desk Stands | Mirage Omni S8 sub1 | Mirage Omni S8 Sub2
