I -Tunes transfer to a I-Phone 6s?

I have an older I-Mac desktop with mine & the wifes libraries. I think the desktop is circa. 2011. We both got new 6s's yesterday. Problem: I plug my phone into the desktop and it says I need to download 12.2.2 so I did that. I just want my library on my phone and it says I need to upgrade to 12.2.2 which I already did. I-Tunes doesn't even recognize my phone is hooked up. I don't want her library mixed with mine on the phone. Any ideas?

  • I did that and still nothing. I'm not very tech. savvy and I always thought iTunes was a real P.I.T.A.
  • I just rebooted and no change. I'm not sure what OS I have.
  • It keeps saying I need to upgrade to a newer version which I already did.
  • Ok Mac OSX 10.7.5
  • Ok thanks for your help! That's probably why. It says I can update so I'm going to give that a try.
  • I just tried the update and it says my software is up to date on my IMac. Where do I go to find the free upgrade?
  • MAC OSX Version 10.7.5
  • I'll give that a try.
  • It says it's downloading but it doesn't look like it on the bar. Sent from iPhone.
  • ok thanks for all your help.
  • Wow, thanks again nbbrowser. Everything turned out great and everything seems faster than it was before. I-Tunes let me do exactly what I wanted to do and safari is also faster. I downloaded the El Capiton version from Mac.

I had no idea that this could be done. I guess I'm just too PC illiterate when it come to this stuff.

Glad you got it worked out. I would not consider a 2011 mac old since I'm still running a 2009 with 10.8.5., 2.66ghz and 8gb ddr3. Don't believe I can upgrade above the 10.8.5 due to system requirements but she still runs great and no viruses to date.

My late 2009 27" iMac is still going strong. I installed a 1TB SSD about 3 weeks ago to replace the stock 1TB HD and it screams!

Bet your Mac can run the latest version of MacOS X 10.10, hell my 2008 MacBook Pro can easily.

    Will check into this. Thanks

Did you replace it yourself ? If so, was it difficult?

Yes, did it myself. Nope, not difficult to do, just a little tedious with some patience required. In addition to the OWC SSD I bought, a new SATA cable is required as well (for my year iMac it is, so check OWC's site). The new SATA cable (made by OWC) has a heat sensor cable built on to it since the stock heat sensor cable in the iMac can't be used with the SSD. The new cable plugs inline with the existing SATA cable. Real easy! Thats about another $30. The cooling fans inside will run at maximum all the time without the correct cable and burn up. I didn't have the right tools, so I bought a small tool kit as well that included the suction cups needed to remove the glass panel on front that is held on by strong magnets.

Other than that, I watched this video on how to do it which is pretty straight forward.

Here's a checklist BEFORE installing the drive...

    1. Full Time Machine backup.
    2. Create a bootable thumb drive with El Capitan on it. You'll need at minimum an 8GB USB thumb drive.

Instructions on creating the bootable thumb drive and how to format the new SSD with the utilities on the thumb drive are in the link below. Yes, I downloaded the free copy of Diskmaker X5 (link inside this instruction site)...

    mashable.com/2015/10/01/clean-install-os-x-el-capitan/#vh0UiLAE9Eq6

    3. Take apart iMac and install SSD.
    4. Follow instructions to load OS X.
    5. Restore backup
    6. Rock n Roll!

BTW, i'm assuming you have a late 2009 iMac (based on your post above)? If so, you can fit 16gb of RAM in it. VERY easy install. 4 small screws on the bottom of the iMac. Pull the tabs to eject the RAM. Press new RAM into slots. Upgraded my RAM to 16gb back in 2010 with Crucial RAM. 4 x 4gb sticks. Ran me about $150. If you can swing the cost, do it!
    No excuses!
  • Every time I get online I have to re- sign into my forums & e-mails. I must have hit something in the settings that I can't figure out. Any ideas what I did?

Still can't figure out why it erases my sign on name & password whenever I log onto Safari each time. Anyone?

Now I can't access my Yahoo e-mail account and every time I close Safari it automatically signs off my screen name on all discussion forums, e-mail... My sister sent me a text just now telling me my Yahoo e-mail tried to send her a virus via e-mail that I did not send. Ever since the upgrade to El Capiton my PC is acting very strange. Is there any kind of virus scan that comes on my 2011 IMac?

Thanks, I'm pretty PC illiterate when it comes to this stuff. I really don't do much with my desktop except surf,e-mail & I-Tunes. Hell, I never even learned how to do an attachment. I guess I'm just too old to care. All I know is I've had much better luck with Apple vs. Windows through the years.
