Question for you tube guys

So I know less than nothing about tubes and associated electronics. I showed a house today and this was mounted on a floor joist in the basement. Any clue what it might be?

Are those tv antenna leads attached, on the bottom, to the left and right sides? It that is indeed the case I would guess a tv signal amplifier. That is just a guess though. I don't remember ever seeing anything like that.

    I disabled signatures.
