What do you think.
After reading a artical on sub movement and vibration affecting the quality of the sound from the sub. Then reading about ntculenuff's sub dancing arond at high volumes. I started thinking, if stopping the movement and vibratons of the cabinet lowers the Hz a few points and raises the SPL at lower Hz.
What if you put two ‘I’ screws in the floor, not if you have expensive flooring. Then strap the sub down with it sitting on two peices of slate with neoprene or foam in between the two peices. Or some other way of holding the sub down. If you put your hand on your sub when it hits hard you will most likly feel it jump and vibrate during regular use, even with spikes.
Slate stops reverberation from reaching the floor as well as sandstone and granite. Several of the older members tried this a while back and notced the difference, like Ron-P. See his sub in "The Green Room".
They brace the inside to stop flexing and movement why not stop it from the outside as well.
Or is this going to far and I have to much time to think about this kind of stuff.

i talked to a salesman at a custom stereo store down here (about 6 yrs ago) that went to this guys house that built a dedeicated home theater room. he told me that he built a concrete sub encloser for 2 15's in his floor so tht the subs fired straight up out of the floor. he said that when this guy fired up a bass track if you were in his kitchen on the opposite end of the house (he said that it was a decent size of a house too) that you could watch a glass of water scoot across the counter at a good pace. he told me that it was the most solid hard hitting bass he had ever heard.
dont know if i was getting smoke blown up my arse, it is a pretty reputable store.
