Toilet Manufacturer Casting Issue

I removed the toilet tank in order to change out the guts on a Mayfair toilet. I noticed in the throat area of the toilet (not the tank), where the water flows through, there was a small amount of caulk laying there. I thought, "what the heck is caulk doing in there." I picked up the caulk and there's a hole there!!!…
