Comparing DAC's Oppo Vs Yamaha

I want to compare the sound of these when I get some IC's to connect the Oppo's analog outputs, but there is an issue. I thought that I could just switch the HDD drive from one unit to the other however the Yamaha does not seem to support the NTFS or exFAT format of the HDD via the USB port. So far I have just run the HDD through the Oppo HDMI out to the Yamaha. As I understand it this configuration uses the Yamaha DAC, but I am thinking that it would be better to compare the two without having to have the Oppo in the chain. The Yamaha does support FAT32 format but that is limited to much smaller HDD's (I think). Any ideas on how I can test the two different DAC's with the same HDD? Also I am able to stream the same files to either unit via the network, but the Yamaha is hard wired and the Oppo is wifi so it may not be a good comparison. Thanks

Leave it hooked up as you had it. You only need to switch between the digital output and analog output on the oppo to see which you like better. Not a complete comparison as you have different cables going to the receiver but close enough.

Set up the cd input on the receiver too. You may have some sort of setting labeled "analog bypass" or "Direct".
