Polk Rti12 as a surround speaker?

Here's the deal. I'm surfing CL and comes across some rti12 in excellent condition and was wondering if it'll be good for my back surround speaker. Currently I have rtia9 fronts, csia6 center, and fxia6 off to the sides. Would you guys rather get rtia3, another pair of fxia6, or the rti12? Please chime in.

Depends, if you like a more direct radiating surround field, have the room and power to push them. Personally I think it's a waste for HT but might be great for multi channel music.
    HT SYSTEM-
    Sony 850c 4k
    Pioneer elite vhx 21
    Sony 4k BRP
    SVS SB-2000
    Polk Sig. 20's
    Polk FX500 surrounds

    Cables-
    Acoustic zen Satori speaker cables
    Acoustic zen Matrix 2 IC's
    Wireworld eclipse 7 ic's
    Audio metallurgy ga-o digital cable

    Kitchen

    Sonos zp90
    Grant Fidelity tube dac
    B&k 1420
    lsi 9's
  • Thanks Tonyb. I'm going to give it a try since he is selling the pair for 300. If I dont like it as a surround I figure I can sell it later and get my money back. I think 300 is fair what do you guys think?

I would only use the top terminals for surround duty. Will sit up nice and high. 300 is a really good price
  • I may just commit it to 2 channel listening should I not like it as a surround speaker. I have 2 Adcom 545 and a Yamaha receiver I can use as a preamp. If anything 1 Adcom per speaker but I've never dealt with anything that hard before.

  • So I picked them up last night. It has a few blemishes but nothing too major. Now my next question is. Can I remove the jumper betweeen then binding post and amplify the woofers and highs with the same signal?

Correct. I'll need 4 pair of speaker wires. One for each pair of binding post but would I need to do anything as far as signals going out to the amp?
