Speaker recommendation
Ok. It has been a while since I posted.
I am possibly looking to replace my RTi A9's and CSI A6 center for something.that is not so power hungry. I really love my speakers but am unsure about spending big money on a 3-5 channel amp to really get the most out of them.
I have been looking at the Monitor Audio Silver 6/8 ot the SVS Primes.
What would you consider pros and cons of this route? Is there any other budget friendly speakers for recommendation? I would say 1200 or so for mains and center is sufficient.
I will investing in a new pre/pro very soon as my Kenwood clips to much now.
Thank you.
Brian

I'd give the SVS's a run. They are well reviewed and free shipping both ways if you don't like them. Love to hear your thoughts. The Ultras are damn sexy looking. Love to get my ears on those...

I recently was looking for something new as well. From My research the silvers are rated at 4 ohms. I'm not sure how difficult they are to drive, but it would be worth looking into. Obviously not as hard to drive as the A9's. I liked the silver series, the gold and platinum are really nice, and worth a listen. Monitor audio are a bit laid back, and might not be the best for home theater.2 channel:

You don't need to spend big money on an amp. Lots of used ones in the 5-800 buck range that will do those babies justice.
Def tech is another brand also good for HT and fairly easy to drive. So is Klipsch but that's a different sound but applicable since your mostly HT.
I'm assuming the Kenwood your talking about is an AVR ? It's clipping because it can't handle the power required of it for those fast transients in HT sound....and you probably turning up the volume because at lower volumes they don't sound all that good ? Replacing that with something of equal caliber but better whiz bang software won't solve that issue of clipping. Only power will, good clean current, which most avr's don't have.HT SYSTEM-

How about:
Rti A7's. - Feed them quality source material and they hold their own against many a speaker costing many times more.
TSx 550T- I listened to the 330Ts in less than ideal condition at a Best Buy and i was impressed. Some how i get the feeling this line has to be the most underrated of the Polk speaker line up!
The CHANE A5RX-C - Have had more than their share of impressive reviews especially for the price. They have a rabid following that seems to be growing by the day.

R55Ti - For the money these are also strong contenders

RP-280FA - The new line up from Kilpsch is also making some noise.
