What should I pay for Used LSI Series

Hey guys, ran into a guy local to me selling off his gear.
It consists of:

2 - LSi 15's
1 - LSiC
2 - LS60i's

Trying find out the details of how long hes had them and how they've been taken care of all these years. But curious what is the forums opinion on what would be a good price to pay? He seems motivated to sell. I'd be upgrading for the TSi Series, planned on buying an external amp anyways.

I don't want to insult him with some lowball offer, but it would be an awesome upgrade from my setup I have now, dont you think?
Home Theater Setup

6 to 8 bills would be a fair offer. IMO
  • Is there any noticeable pros/cons I should know about? From being the older polk line? Anything I should look for? I know their not LSi25's, is the only big difference is the powered sub built in?

IIRC a lot of people like the 15's better than the 25's.

You'll find improvements by updating the crossovers, if you desire.

No powered sub on the 15's is correct. I would take the 15's over the 25's. You can mod it with a better sub too.

While I wouldn't consider it a lowball offer, I think you'd be doing great if you could it for that price...especially $600. That would be a steal IMO.

It would have helped if you stated what the seller was asking after you found out the condition. There are other factors to consider, including you not having to pay for shipping.

I'd consider that an insult. Generally, it's acceptable to offer 10% less than the asking price.

Different sound more in tune to music than HT. Your going to need a good 5 channel amp for all those 4 ohm speakers if you don't already have one.
    HT SYSTEM-
    Sony 850c 4k
    Pioneer elite vhx 21
    Sony 4k BRP
    SVS SB-2000
    Polk Sig. 20's
    Polk FX500 surrounds

    Cables-
    Acoustic zen Satori speaker cables
    Acoustic zen Matrix 2 IC's
    Wireworld eclipse 7 ic's
    Audio metallurgy ga-o digital cable

    Kitchen

    Sonos zp90
    Grant Fidelity tube dac
    B&k 1420

50% of his asking may be a bit more than he is willing to accept but you never know. He may counter back or not even reply at all. I have seen a few lsi systems pop up on Craigslist and they are typically within the $650 to $1000 area. Most people leave some wiggle room. Good luck, hope you get it.

I'd probably go closer to $800 to $900 if everything was in really good condition.

I hope you didn't blow it with a low ball offer, but that was definitely a bit insulting considering the sub was included. I hope I'm wrong and he accepts the offer or is at least willing to negotiate.

  • I told him minus the sub, didn't need it. But ya I may have F'd myself with that offer. Might be for the better though, found another person local selling a set of RTiA9s.

Just wait for an email back. I honestly think if he was offering it for 1200 with sub, $600 without it deserves an email back atleast.

Agreed. I didn't realize the offer was not including the sub.

Well now I'm in a pickle. I got response back from the guy, and he said he would take 600 for everything everything minus the sub... should I jump on that deal? I'm gonna be using these mainly for home theater. Or would it be better to go with the other deal I found for the RTiA's and Center for 900?
Also seeing as I only have the Pioneer SC-37 right now, can it even run 4 ohms speakers?

LSi's. Your Pioneer will run 4 ohm speakers fine. Just be careful with the volume knob and in the future adding a separate power amp will give you sonic benefits.

I ran 3 pairs of 4 ohm speakers (at the same time) off a garbage entry level Yamaha AVR with no problems. Never tripped anything on either the speaker or the AVR end.

  • Ok new problem lol the guy is selling them for his sister, but already sold the receiver so they arent hooked up. Theyve made it clear that theyre cool with me taking them to test them and if whatever reason they dont work, i can return them (in an email so its in writing). My problem is ive been running my current set up off my receiver, a pioneer sc-37, but these new speakers are 4 ohms. Not sure if id be able to actually test them with my own receiver would i? I plan on buying an external amp, but not for at least a week.

Any suggestions? Do you think my receiver would work well enough doing 4 ohms just to test?

I honestly think you are overthinking this one. Your receiver will run it.

But you will benefit from future upgrades to the receiver. Think of it as "headroom".

    You will be fine.

Ya think youre right. Just paranoid lol deal seems to good in a way. What Should I look for when I pick them up? I know obvious physical damage, but is there anything with these that I should know about? Like how to tell if a speaker is blown from physical inspection?
