RTi12 and CSi a6
I am trying to put a system together. I was thinking of the Onkyo TX-NR646. Is this receiver capable of driving the RTI12, or do they need more power? Is the CSi A6 a good match for the RTi12?
Thanks, Andy

There isn't a receiver anywhere that can drive the 12'sOh, Listen here mister. We got no way of understandin' this world. But we got as much sense of this bird flyin in the sky. Now there is a lot that bird don't know, but it don't change the fact that the world is happening to him all the same. What I am tryin to say is, is that the course of your life, well its changing, and you don't even see it- Forest Bondurant

There are a few 300+ watt vintage receivers.

There's one going for a cool $14,000 on eBay right now. I don't know who would be crazy enough to pay that...

Well lets properly correct this
Not an HT 5.1 using 5 channels that won't do these speakers justice.
That Cambridge in a 2channel recently posted looked beefy for an HT AVR2-channel: Modwright KWI-200 Integrated, Dynaudio C1-II Signatures
Desktop rig: LSi7, Polk 110sub, Dayens Ampino amp, W4S DAC/pre, Sonos, JRiver
Gear on standby: Melody 101 tube pre, Unison Research Simply Italy Integrated
Gone to new homes: (Matt Polk's)Threshold Stasis SA12e monoblocks, Pass XA30.5 amp, Usher MD2 speakers, Dynaudio C4 platinum speakers, Modwright LS100 (voltz), Simaudio 780D DAC

Andy (and anyone else who cares to read this),
May get some flack for this, but my own experience with the RTi12 speakers (and an Infinity C37 center, and Infinity Beta 50 surrounds) is quite different. Meaning, that with my Yamaha RX-A2030 140wpc AVR and my Outlaw sub in a 5.1 setup is PLENTY to power superb sound! Plenty of volume, wonderful clarity and tonality. In a 7000ft3 area.
Now, maybe my hearing isn't as sharp as some others', am positive I am not as experienced in "good" or "proper" sound as many others, and yet, I absolutely love what I hear from the RTi12s. Without the addition of, or expense of, further amplification. The Infinities have similar sensitivity (91db) as the Polks, so they have their own requirements--all being met abundantly.
So, I say give it a whirl as is. If you really feel the need to amplify, then that is your conclusion based upon your experience and circumstances.
Good luck.Jim

The big question is, are you using a subwoofer?
If you're crossing them over anywhere near 80hz, those bass drivers will be doing practically nothing, and they are what soak up a lot of power.
If that's the case, there are a lot of receivers that can power those, all day long. -

Right, and if that's the case, why pay the extra for those speakers? If you are going to crossover below 89hz to a sub, just buy the rti8s.Living Room 2.2: Usher BE-718 "tiny dancers"; Dual DIY Dayton audio RSS210HF-4 Subs with Dayton SPA-250 amps; Arcam SA30; Musical Fidelity A308; Sony UBP-x1000es

The RTi8's or the RTi A5's with a good subwoofer and a nice AVR is a pretty strong start.
