MM6 or db6750?

Need help figuring out speaker selection....

I have a MTX thunder 204 that puts out 25 watts RMS per channel. The front channel will be running my momo 5x7 speakers.

Just wondering if I will be underpowering the MM6 with this amp and would be better off with the db6750. I had some dx6x9's on the rear channels and I could over power them easily so I think the amp is under rated

I am not trying to have 'THE' best stereo in town, I just want a good sounding stereo that I can crank up every once in a while. price difference really does not matter to me.

Please help.

The momo will sound a lot better than the DB. The momo will be a lot more detailed and accurate.

And yes, 25 watts is way way way too little power for those momos. Those things need at least 75 rms to do em justice.

So if I am not going to change my amp, should I go with the db6750?

Another option is to reuse the dx9's I have, but I was not too impressed with their performance powered by the Thunder204 amp. I think a decent set of components perform better than the dx9's, such as my old pioneer 6.5 components that got stollen.

Can you guys recommend a decent set of components, other than the Momo M6's?

Well the DB components are pretty good. Not a high end speaker like the Momo but a really good speaker none the less and for $200 not a bad value either.

There are also these. I like Infinity a lot. They can be a bit bright but with a little tweaking they can sound pretty damn good.

JBL also makes a pretty good speaker and these can be had for under $150.

These are all very decent speakers that will sound pretty good. However you should really consider upgrading your amp. Doesnt have to be 5000 watts but at least 50 per channel. Trust me, you wont regret it!

Well, I am not going to change my amp b/c it was plenty loud when I had the dx9's and pioneer 4x6 plates hooked up to it ..... I had the gain way way down for the pioneers and gain at about 80% for the dx9's. I could easily over power the dx9's.

I guess my question is, will I notice a difference between the db6750 and the MM6? Should I consider the Momo 6x9's? Or what would you suggest?

I already have the Momo 5x7's in the front.

Dont confuse loudness with wattage. A 100 watt amp will not be that much louder than a 50 watt amp. The difference will be in the amps ability to push the speakers properly. Think about it like a car. You dont need a 454 to drive to work and back, a little 1.6 liter will do just fine. But whenever you need to pass a car, charge up a freeway on ramp, haul a heavy load or just wanna have some fun then youll wish you had the extra cubes. Its kind of the same way with amps. The amp you have may be plenty loud but its working a lot harder and may not be playing certain frequencies as well as a bigger amp would. This is especially true with the Momo speakers which seem to be made out of lead. These things are very heavy duty. They need no less than 75 watts each to do em justice and it wouldnt be a bad idea to feed em 125+!

As far as SQ difference between the Momo and DB there will be one. The Momos are a high end line of speakers where the DBs would fall into the mid line category and so will be a little more detailed and accurate. The DB are very good speakers but just not as good as the Momos. Back to cars again. Toyota and Lexus are 2 brands made by the same company. Toyota is good but Lexus is better.

I own a set of Momo 6x9s and can say with confidence that they are the best sounding set of 6x9s on the market, bar none!!! If youre wanting an oval speaker you wont find anything better than the Momo!
