Want to buy a couple LSiM 707s - How to build around them for my needs?

Hi - first time post here. I'm likely to buy a pair of 707s in the near future and would appreciate some advice on AVR pairings that may not require amps. I listen to 90% classical music (a collector) and want to go in a direction that would enable transition to a home theater at some point. Any input is appreciated.

Thanks,

Jon

If transitioning to home theater, I'd drop down to the 705s and purchase a subwoofer with the saved money. You'd be able to power the 705s with a good receiver better than the larger 707s. By good receiver, I'd recommend something above $1200 retail for the 705s.

Agree with @Emlyn 100%. Besides that, the powered sub will take some of the strain on the receiver if crossed over properly.

Thanks, everyone, for the advice and the welcome. I like the idea of a powered subwoofer, and it will allow me to keep the costs better under the radar by spreading out the purchases. My wife was not happy this morning when I informed her that I'm investing in AV equipment...

Regarding media, most of my collection is CDs, while a growing portion is server-based (from online music purchases). I do also enjoy Blu-rays, but most of my movies are streamed from Amazon and Google. I'd also plug a game system into the system, so a couple HDMI inputs are desired.

I've been looking at the Marantz SR7010, Marantz AV7702MK2, and some others in the ~2k price range. I may actually wire up a more complex system when I finish the remainder of my basement (dedicated theater room), so I'm not worried about overkill here.

Regarding quality versus flexibility and features, I'd weigh them equally. My time in orchestra and the Army have damaged my hearing to a noticeable extent, so this system is really about giving my children a great experience while I attempt to share my hobbies with them and educate them.

Assuming 705s, any ideas about an eventual center channel pairing and surrounds?

    Thanks again,

    Jon
