Anyone else getting this, I still have Halloween stuff to put away and leafs to rake and this happens, 8 inches and still snowing. It appears it's going to be a long cold winter. :s

    I feel for you. Been through too many of those. But this year thanks to Pacific weather patterns, we're in for a milder winter than usual. The troughing is sending most of this stuff away from us and bringing up warmth from the south so no snow in the forecast yet. Although by last year this time we'd already been hit in Maine. Heating oil is down, snow should be down. I'm liking what I'm seeing/hearing. Unfortunately, for all those further, much further inland, it s-ucks!

    Too early for snow.

    Yep, too early is right. Our last snow ended in what....late March ?

    The problem for us in the Midwest with this warmer pacific pattern is the constant freezing/thawing/freezing. Runs havoc on water pipes....and pot holes.

    At that point we had 16 inches and was still snowing. There is a winter storm warning until 3:00 PM today.

    Yeah that's the storm that dumped about 10 inches on us it's done I just came in for a break cleaning up will be back out shortly. Chicago gets dumped on then comes that lake effect mixed in, careful cleaning up. I'm glad it happened on the weekend a little at a time with frequent breaks for tunes and beers between the clean up, spose to get cold tonight 5 degrees with negative windchills.

    I'm in Northern Illinois, 1 hour west of Chicago. We received 17" total. Now tonight it's supposed to get down to zero degrees. But the silver lining, it will be 55* on Thanksgiving. Going to be messy when this stuff melts.

    Unusual for us to get this much snow at one time this early. Last weekend it was 60*.

    According to the news this evening it was 11.3 inches total here's the mess after the clean up, it looks like you guys in northern Chicago got the most out of this one here in eastern Iowa the Temps will drop to 5 degrees with wind chills in the negatives then in the forties by mid week just in time for Thanksgiving.
