Ok guys here's my question...

Any of you out there have a Denon avr5800 and polk rt2000p or i's?? I have the p's with a cs1000p center, hooked up with MIT terminator 2 speaker wire and interconnects, they are line leveled using the pre-outs in back of the denon to the sub in on the polks(jumping bars off).

I just recently hooked up the Denon, used to have a yamaha dsp-a1 with mit term 5's. now any of you have a similar setup??? and if so how long did it take to get good sounding 2-channel stereo from your denon and polks?? condersidering the break in time of the MIT's, I don't remember the break in time being so long with the Yammy and term 5's.. HT sounds good, but the music is a little rocky, maybe I'm just being impatient with the Mit's ,I just want to hear the denon sing!! anyone have some good tweaks??? used a slp meter have that done. also have a eq between the cd player and the reciever, I like to control my own sound field, any tweaks or comments would be appreciated from denon and polk owners....
thank you.......

    Hi:

I have a Denon 4802 and RT2000s and have them connected to a B&K Amp 200W X 3. My dedicated sub is connected to the sub out on the 4802 and set to 100Hz. The RT2000s are connected with one speaker out R and L to the speaker binding post, jumper in place. The RT2000 sub volumn is set to around 12 or 1. Polk recomends not to use the rca sub in on the RT2000s. I haven't tried the rca in with the 4802 but I am totally pleased with the
the sound I have now, all the bass I need.

first off, good luck with your 4802... hopefully my 5800 will be getting her upgrade this quarter....

second why would polk not recommend to use a rca cable to the line level from the pre-outs?? I would think this would be the most beneficial way to hook them up... your are splitting the signal to two seperate parts of the speaker, almost like bi-wiring... please let me know why they don't recommend this, since they do make it available......

Shrek-Polk has a ‘Speaker Specialist’ which comes out, supposedly, every 1/4. Check out the site map I frget exactly what page you can find it. The 2nd or 3rd voume has an artical on bass managment, by Paul.
It should explain everything about bass you need to know.

Are you taking advantage of your TosLink fiber conections from your CD/DVD player? You will get the best dynamics and channel seperation from using this. Your 5800 has I believe 8 onbord DAC's that are used in a pure audio 2/ch mode @(4per channel). If you are useing this cable and are still getting poor separation, you may have to look elsewhere for a better setup. This cable opens up a whole new world if you take advantage of it.

thank you for your imput, the pure direct mode works with analog or digital, the 5800 switches from two to 4 dacs per channel at 24-192, and it really does a nice job of cleaning it up

    onkyo integra cd player
    optical
Sony mega changer---RCA--Mit term2 through Eq
    Toshiba dvd
    Mit term 3 digital coax..
    sony c600d dvd----Mit term 3 digital coax..

I took the speaker cable out of the speakers and left on a cd in repeat mode, The Term2 are new speaker and interconnect, they need two weeks to burn in.. I have had them going for 2and a half days now and wow!! wow!! wow!! do they open up the soundstage, the freq above 1khz are starting to take form, and the freq below are becoming more tight.. these cables are worth every penny, and just to think they are going to get better as they burn in, I've used kimber amble, cardas, audio quest, and better cables, AR, but the Mit's just plain out kick their ****, you can hear the soundstage and if you close your eyes you could swear you were there! it's like adding another component to your system.. but let me tell you the Break in time is brutal!! but well worth it!!
the denon also turns off any video circutury, as not to interfer with the audio in pure direct mode...

hate to reply to myself, but just wanted the people who where helping me that when I first hooked up the system with the New speaker cable and interconnects, the system just plain sounded awfull, but since I had left everything running for a couple days, it sounds fantastic.. these cables need a burn in time... well worth the wait!!!

    Thank you

p.s. I downloaded the article on bass management but have not read it at this point yet...
