In-wall timbre matched speakers

My system is currently using Rti A9's for the mains and Fxi A4's for the surrounds, and I'm looking for an in-wall replacement for my rear surrounds that are timbre matched to the others. Could someone tell me which line of in-wall I should be looking at? I'd also like to know if there's something along the lines of an in -wall version of the Fxi A4?

Many thanks!

there are a number on polk's site that are made to go with the RTiAs. Only one bi-pole di-pole however, and it is matched to the LSiM series and its expensive. I will say that personally not have timbre matched surrounds doesn't bother me. But I also don't listen to surround sound music much. I would at least consider looking at other brands, you will have a lot more options.

I was in a similar situation awhile back. I have RTi10s as mains, and for years had older (but excellent) Fx500i bipole/dipole surrounds.
I always knew the WAF on those Fx's were minimal, so when we redecorated the living room, I found a pair of Polk RC65i inwalls from Newegg for $99/pair, and sold the FX.
The 65s do sound a little different, but out of the box they blended in with the trim paint we were using, and they disappeared on either side of the fireplace. I actually don't miss the 500s, the 65s are timbre matched (6 1/2" driver) and they have tweeters that can be aimed slightly so the surround effects are still there.

I don't think you'll be disappointed if you end up going with them.
So, are you willing to put forth a little effort or are you happy sitting in your skeptical poo pile?

  • I'm finding a lot of good deals on Polk in walls right now, has me thinking of switching all four. I guess the most important thing would be to match driver size with the mains if possible, correct?

I would say the most important thing is the tweeter and is it form a series made to go with the RTis. But honestly, most modern Polks (outside of LSiM perhaps) have similar enough timbre that I don't think it it will be a problem.
