Lots Of Upgrading Today

I added a Pro-Ject Phono Box SE II phono preamp and a 2 channel B&K PT-3 preamp to my setup today. One more upgrade is on the way, a Denon DL-110 cartridge for my turntable. Big thanks to @DaveMuell and @erniejade for the great deals!

Just been sitting back and listening for a few hours and it's sounding pretty good. I think after the cartridge arrives I'll be done spending money on equipment until summer 2016.

Seems like a lot of people have done some upgrading this past month, I didn't want to be left out. ;)

Nevermind the mess of wires... Also, I don't know why it looks like there's scratches on the front of my Xbox - there's not. I think it's just light reflecting from something in the room.

Nice! let me know how you like them. I came so close to buying the pro-ject phono amp in the past, but always seem to buy a different one at the last minute.

really like what you have there! Enjoy.

Thanks. I like the Pro-Ject so far. Nice upgrade from the phono preamp in my AVR. Lots of loading options for any cart you might have. MC - 17, 18, 20, 22, 69, 100, and 220 ohm settings (all 120pF) and MM has 120, 220, 340, and 440pF (all 47kOhms). I could see the blue light annoying some people but it doesn't bother me. With all these loading options I have to wonder what one size fits all my AVR phono pre is set to.

With the B&K preamp the first thing I noticed is the obscene amount of bass you can set it to. Nothing like my Yamaha AVR will go up to.

It's not too bad but it could look nicer. When I bought this Salamander stand off Craigslist it was missing the shelf for the left and right cabinet, only had the middle one. I need to buy two of those - Salamander really wants a lot of money for a piece of wood though.

Looks nice, Rich. My solution to the "seeing wires through the rack" issue is to not look through the rack.

I put mesh behind mine to hide stuff.

Hehe. It doesn't bother me too much but it is unsightly, although I'm single and live alone so who cares?

Yes. A wore out Stanton at that. I spent an hour aligning it and I still get treble distortion/sibilance/whatever you want to call it so I assume either the stylus is done or it was never a good cartridge to begin with (even new).

Nice setup!!! Both good upgrades. I'm glad it's working out for you. I agree being able to match the load does make a difference.
