Deep in the Woods and I'm not lost yet!

Well Day 4 of being out in God's country deep in the woods. At this very moment this is where I'm and this is the only stand I can get any reception what so ever. It's also day 4 without seeing civilization no showers pe yew I stink anyways we only got 3
deer hanging on the meat pole I just heard a little noise in the brush below me they are a moving, got to go take care my fellow Polkies man I smell

Hey just noticed the Gremlin the only thing creepier is getting a deer in the evening and having to drag it through the swamps in the dark to the 4 wheeler with the woods full of Timberwolves, makes you think of that movie The Gray.

My evening stand great spot to sit and not think about all the crappy going on in the world. For tunes we got the Polk Urchin and a couple of iPods full of tunes back at the cabin it sure is peaceful out here I'm just thinking pure thoughts this very moment breathing the fresh air no concerns about anything in the current events category.

Congrats man - nothing like a day in the woods. Even the slow rainy ones beat a day at work! Good luck. I was out Saturday and Monday and enjoyed every last minute!

beautiful pic Ed! reminds me of Arkansas. My Dad grew up in Polk county and my Grandparents settled in Montgomery county which had the lowest population in Arkansas as it was in the heart of the Quachita forest area. Trees so close together you couldn't hardly ride a horse thru them

With that band on the barrel it looks like one of those express rifles. you hunt dear with a 404 jeffery?

Thanks Darryl - yea - I love my time in the woods - miss having horses too - though they are a lot of work!

That band, ramp FS and front of foregrip leads me to believe Rem 742, 7400 or similar.

That's what I was thinking as well. Thick woods where shots are "usually" 30-70 yards or less. Of course, that band could just be an add-on mount for a sling. Some guys don't like to drill into their wood stocks...

We own a fishing and hunting shack in Northern Minnesota Park Rapids. We actually hunt by the headwaters of the Mississippi. Today day 5 I still stink got a bad after taste of tequila in my mouth were hunting some swamp stands in case it rains and snows like they are predicting then we will actually hunt out of th cab of this here abandoned logging truck. I agree with you all nothing better than a day in the woods.

My grandson took 8 days off from school to make the trip, he got all A's on his report card so the little guy is totally psyched about this whole trip he actually cleaned house on Texas Hold Em last night. I hope everyone enjoys there time out in the woods those of you that plan to any way.

Nice. I made a ground stand similar to this for my son and I to hunt together (he's 14 and uses a crossbow). This was 2 weeks ago and haven't been able to get out there to use it.

^^ I have a Viper as well ^^ (for when I'm not feeling lazy!) Public land for me for now, so I hike about 1.5 miles back to get away from the crowds - get's a lil heavy at times with a pack and all - but that thing is damned comfy for an all day sit. I've snoozed in mine a few times I'm not afraid to admit.

Couple guys I hunt with have had stands stolen on them even on private land. So I wanted a comfortable stand that was easy to take in and out. The Viper SD is about 20lbs. Still not easy to hike long distances since it's bulky and typically you have other gear, but still manageable for short distances. I haven't fallen asleep in mine but I can imagine you can easily. Although some people generally don't feel safe with self climbing stands, I feel quite safe in it.

Well Day 6 did get a lake water bath it's just me and the Grandson somewhat smelling but toughing it out its cold snow on the way we're in the covered stand trying to stay warm, and get that big buck so far only three have been taken well its starting to snow. We had company, and a Texas Hold Em match last night I lost my A.s good tunes were playing through the Polk Urchin it was Joe Bonnamassa playlist. A few shots of camp from the lake the outhouse and the inside of the shack the best fishing and hunting area in Minnesota. Good day all.

We use cover scents we've had does and small bucks come right up to us plus are areas are well scented dippers the works, the ones we don't shoot don't notice us at all, we are only after big bucks.

Yesterday's stand we both sat in this one was cold windy and snowing so we went with the enclosed with windows and heat we call this one our Taj Mahal.




This is the mother of all stands it's 2 miles from where I parked the four wheeler it's rough terrain these swamps are where the Big Bucks are look at the landscape it's beautiful here Canada is straight north from here. Thanks for letting me share this moment with you all, it's kind of cool having club polk with me out in the boonies.

Well here is my little Bear Grylls jr, he's toughed it out for 8 days 1 more to go we are manning a swamp stand we got plenty of meat. Yesterday, today, and tomorrow are for big Rack only everything else walks. He missed a big one yesterday late afternoon the Buck fever got him and he missed his shot the stand were in has produced massive bucks, they get big in the swamps for a reason the terrain is treacherous and it's easy to get lost out here best thing about this stand I actually get 2 bars on the phone so I can text back and forth with my fellow comrades, and keep up with the latest at Club Polk. The other picture is one of the shooting lanes behind us in case they come from behind us.

On the last morning this little feller showed up under my stand and I watched him go about his business until he took off it was fun watching the little guy. It sure feels good to be back in civilization.
