In other gallinaceous news -- our daughter, son-in-law, granddaughter, and their eleven spring chickens celebrated the arrival of their first ever egg last week.

We gave my daughter (& son-in-law) some golf balls, at her request, when her hens were reaching "that age" -- puttin' a few golf balls in the coop helps to give the hens "ideas".

Is there a way to upload .mov video files (I doubt it due to size, but hope I'm wrong) or, do they have to be hosted from another server and the link embedded here?

I would think a file hosting service (YT or Flikr, e.g.) would be the way to go. I think that somewhere there is (or was) a list of allowable file types (???).
At any rate -- you can always give it a try & see what happens. I know you can upload animated GIFs.

I am reminded of musican/Vermonter Neko Case, who (by her own admission) has a thing about pianofortes and, well, she has (or, at least, had) a barn full of old pianos.

Yes, the Neko Case bit on Wait, Wait was very funny. So funny that they actually subsequently had her on as a panelist (and she was pretty good in that role as well).
She is a piece of work, in the best sense of the word.
