thats not going to be sony's fault
that has to do with the make and model of your car
for instance, in my truck, i have to pop up a panel that lines the dash
then the HU is more exposed and there are 2 tabs on either side that i have to press down and the radio slides out

Cody...I thought you had to buy that "special" tool to get them out? ;)

I could do it by pressing the tabs down, but that would be a total pain, because the tabs arent my deck, the tabs are the box that hold my deck..and the deck slides in and clicks into place...as far as buying a special tool thats what i wondered...

well the tabs are not part of my HU either, theyre part of the truck
far as special tools...i know ford has em on their trucks...but nothing a couple of paper clips couldnt fix
its very easy to take my radio out...too easy...
if i was a thief...after i got into the truck, i could literally be out with the radio in less than 10 seconds
    thats BAD
especially when considering its a $900 radio
and thomas, i think i know what "special" tool youre talking about...i think most models since the dawn of time have had them "built in"

    :
    : :

this is the top of the box, that is the one latch

now the DECK is in the box, so i CAN pull out the whole box, but than its SO hard to get back in its ridiculous, The deck is what im having trouble getting out...

if your radio does not have "tabs" then it must have "snappies" on either side much like kenwood, jvc, and panasonic do... this will require the use of the "keys" which came with the radio when you purchased it -- they are thin strips of metal which slide into grooves on either side of the deck.. this releases two snappies inside the cage (or "box" as u call it) that then allow you to pull the deck out.

    good luck.
