Well I knew I was going to get hit with the dreaded "look what a child did to my gear"
I was hosting Thanksgiving a few weeks back I had this TT sitting on a couch no one uses with some other gear..
Anyway I was going to post it for sale this week, but this happened and I don't know when or am I 100% sure it was one of the children that was here that day..
I did not notice it for about 2 weeks, as I don't frequent the basement to much, my main rig is upstairs..
If it's not glueable then could be a good time to try another arm maybe..?

Hate to say it, but there's no way to fix that.Political Correctness'.........defined

It may be a long shot but I have mended many plastic things with JB Plastic Weld or similar products. And when it dries, it looks like you fixed it with chewing gum.

Agreed, even if you manage to glue together it'll never be right. Look for a replacement tonearm.

Yep, or another table for parts selling cheap that you can use the tonearm.
Those family get togethers can be brutal on your stuff, especially with a gang of kids floating around not to mention the tipsy adults. I actually had one try and rip the tweeter off the top of a bookie because she thought it was a mic.HT SYSTEM-

Sorry it happened. Glue won't do the trick. You will need to replace the tonearm.

J,
Hate to stick my nose in your business but maybe this will help.
Here is a guys name & number in Indiana who has a repair shop with lots of parts.
Robert (Bobbie) Getchell. 317-919-1061. He is also on facebook under Getchell Amplifier Company.
He sold me some parts for an old Technics TT I had.
He might have what you need.
FYI, I feel your pain, been there done that..
All the best,
David -
Thanks for the kinds words guys, and David Thanks again for the info on a Technics repair guy..
I have not tried any methods so far I figured glue would not do the trick anyway so I was not even contemplating it..
I've got it listed for now on my site in Canada as a part table a few nibbles but nothing yet..
I still have my minty SL-1200mk2 but I liked the auto return on the 1700, sometimes I fall asleep while listening and hate waking up to my Cadenza Red playing for an hour or two in the run off groove..
If anyone here is interested shoot me a PM special Polkie price..ATC SCM40's,VTL TL 2.5 Preamp,PSB Stratus Goldi's,McCormack DNA 500,McCormack MAP-1 Preamp,Pro-Ject Xtension 10 TT,Ortofon Cadenza Red/Nordost RedDawn LS Speaker cables, Bryston BDP-2, Bryston BDA-2,PS Audio AC-3 power cables -
That must have been at least a little funny Tony if you were a little drunk Tony, lol
Funny thing is I'm sure it was my buddies little guy, he's 4, because when I go over to there place his Speakers look like they have go through the ringer..
Grills pulled and a few holes, some chips in the laminate, he bought them new 6 years ago..
Oh well you live you learn..
As my buddy always says it's only money..pumpkinman wrote: »

Stan mentioned JB weld. I have the same idea. Use two parts JB weld original formula and clean the excess with damp paper tower. It may not look the best but it has saved me a great deal of regrets including the broken garden post.
If you can remove the arm first from the table, it would be easier to work JB weld around the broken pieces and makes a better bond.Trying out Different Audio Cables is a Religious Affair. You don't discuss it with anyone.:biggrin: -
now even IF it could be done just what kind of alignment problems are going to happen ? Seems to me that would be a beast to align after the glue..
-
That looks "nasty"! I was thinking, maybe JB Weld as well. Worth a try but not 100 percent sure it will work in this case! Too bad, that's a nice table.Currently orbiting Bowie's Blackstar.!
