Fxi3 Speakers at Ceiling?

Will these work mounted on the ceiling? I would also put a small "L" bracket at the ends to secure them better. My ceiling is 10' tall.

When explaining the FX speakers, I would always use a wall sconce lighting fixture as an example. The light fans across the wall's surface giving a diffuse and soft light, rather than a table lamp which is more direct and focussed. The sound these speakers are supposed to produce is ambient information. The same sound you would hear if you were in the same place as the movie. Jet engines warming up, steam powered launchers releasing aircraft, that kind of thing.
The FX series really only work in a fairly limited couple of places, to the sides of the listening area and behind the listening area. In both these situations they should be about 3' overhead. If to the side set to "dipolar" and if behind set to "bipolar".
Yes, the ceiling mounted 80f/X would be better in your case, exactly what they were designed for.

Hello,
The FX series were intended to be placed at about 3' above ear level, when seated, in line with the audience location. The idea is to create a diffuse, non-directional very enveloping sound field. I don't believe placing them on the ceiling would be a good idea. It would be better to consider an in-ceiling type speaker or a small single direction speaker.

Right now I have these speakers mounted about 9' above out head and about 6' behind us. I have them on a tilting bracket and they sound great from that location. Will I be able to turn them sideways? If so I could put them in the ceiling wall corner which would be close to what you referred to.

Would the Polk 80F/X-RT be better?
