I just received my Carver m1.5t and a C-2 pre-amp. The preamp won't power up. Uncovered it and the fuse is good and I can't see any burn marks on the circuit boards. Any suggestions?

    First contact the seller.

It's possible the power switch is bad. Do you have a VOM?

I am in the process of contacting the seller (just haven't been able to get ahold of him today). What is a VOM?

Are you sure the lights are not just burned out in the C-2?

I tried to hook it up using every input except the phono. No sound. I have never used a dedicated preamp and it didn't come with the manual so could you please list the proper input and output? Inputs = External phono cartridge load, phono, tuner, tape 1, tape 2, external processor. Outputs = main, main 2, tape 1, tape 2, external processor, line gain (shorting plug +10db). Those are from directly off the back of the unit.

I will pick up a VOM tommorow. Where do I attach the leads?

When you say no sound, are you talking about through speakers via the 1.5t or other?

If you have a pair of headphones that could be the most straightforward check right now.

As for inputs, other than the phono's in, they're all the same.

Radio Shack has decent, inexpensive VOM's. As for where to check, start with the AC coming to and going out of the power switch.
